Global mobile-agent testbed

The Global Mobile-Agent Testbed was an attempt to set up a worldwide set of machines on which any mobile-agent researcher could get an account and test their system. Unfortunately, even though each participating institution contributed and administered their own machine, the testbed proved too difficult to adminsiter and maintain.

We've left this page here since there are still many links to it at other mobile-agent web sites. We remain convinced that the testbed is an excellent idea, and that we simply did not come up with the right way to administer it. If someone is interested in reviving the testbed, we would be happy to discuss where things went wrong in our original attempt and what might be done to fix those things.
