Conclusions
Scripting is fundamentally different than system programming:
- Typeless, interpreted.
- Designed for gluing applications.
- Sacrifice execution speed.
- 5-10x faster application development.
Goal: raise the level of programming:
- Strong typing discourages reuse.
- APIs are bad!
Scripting already important, and will become more so over the next 10 years.
